Get to know us and our approach to helping your little one develop speech, language, play, and feeding skills

Play is how children learn best; it’s natural, motivating, and taps into their innate curiosity in a way that instruction can’t. Utilizing a play-based approach, Kat works alongside parents and caregivers to turn daily life into fun opportunities for development, creating tailored strategies based on each child and family that can be naturally incorporated into busy schedules.

the expert in your child’s corner

Kat is an experienced children’s speech pathologist and parent coach

Kat began her career working across hospitals and specialized schools before founding her NYC private practice — building a depth of expertise and a well-rounded understanding of how children develop and what they need to thrive.

She’s worked with children and families across a wide range of needs, and she knows that the smallest moments of play, conversation, and connection can make the biggest difference. Kat works closely with families, educators, and specialists to make sure every child has the support they need, wherever they are.

As both a pediatric speech therapist and parent coach, she offers bespoke guidance that helps children grow in sustainable ways — helping them find their voice, and giving you the tools to keep that progress going at home.

The Ressa Speech philosophy

01

Play with purpose

Play is a child’s most powerful learning tool. Every session is built around it — because when children are engaged, connected, and having fun, that’s when real progress happens, and skills carry over into everyday life

02

Centred in collaboration

You know your child best. We start there — and work closely with you, their school, and any other specialists involved to ensure everyone is aligned, and growth continues well after the session ends.

03

Rooted in research

Kat is committed to staying at the forefront of her field — regularly engaging with the latest research, participating in specialist groups, and pursuing ongoing training so her practice always reflects current best evidence.

04

Holistic at heart

Speech, language, and feeding don’t develop in isolation. Kat considers the full picture — sensory integration, motor development, cognition, and social-emotional growth — to make sure every child gets support that’s truly tailored to them.

“I love getting texts from parents about a new word, a mealtime win, or a play idea that clicked. Those moments are the most rewarding — they’re proof that what we do in sessions is carrying over into real life”
